かつて鷹峯に芸術村を興した光悦。その鷹峯の紙屋川のほとりに住まわれ創作をされているお二人を京町家玄想庵にお招きします。近江の麻や韓国の苧麻の糸による織物の田中千世子さんとワシタカ工藝 森年弘さんの木の仕事が呼応する玄想庵の空間にぜひお越しいただきお楽しみください。　　ギャラリー玄想庵

Two artists from Takagamine where used to be Koetsu art village
― 田中千世子 Chiyoko Tanaka・ワシタカ工藝 Washitaka Kogei ―

In the early Edo period, Hon’ami Koetsu (1558-1637) brought together a group of artists, craft workers and scholars in Takagamine, north of Kyoto, in the land granted by Tokugawa shogunate. The art village called Koetsu Mura had largely contributed and deepened the development of Japanese arts and crafts nationwide.

The two active artists who live and based in Takagamine, near the Kamiya river, are invited in Gensoan, the 130 years old traditional kimono marchant townhouse located in the Kyoto city area.

Weaving – by Chiyoko Tanaka, an internationally-known contemporary textile artist, the main uses traditional Omi and Korean ramie, and Wood craft – by Toshihiro Mori (Washitaka Kogei), uses cedar and cypress grown in Kyoto, their arts and crafts from Takagamine harmonize together in the Kyoto’s traditional space of Gensoan.
