Kyoto’s Spacious Traditional Merchant House “Genso-an” as Rental Venue and Gallery for Hire

Genso-an, located at the center of Kyoto city, is the 140 years old traditional merchant house. The house has been kept beautifully and unchanged over a century, thanks to the owner family Hirota and the kimono merchant staff members who maintain the house with everyday cleaning and continue their traditional merchant life style in Kyoto.

In this pure traditional setting, you can use the space and rooms in the house for many purposes such as private villa, rental gallery or event and workshop space.

The store house and tea room located at the foremost back of the house

The house can be divided into 3 sections: The old building 1st floor (with the entrance gallery space), the old building 2nd floor, and the extensional 2nd floor spacious tatami hall. You can choose to either using your favorite sections as a private space, or the whole house.

Usage examples…

The 1st floor for the private guest room setting with low tables and zabu cushions
The spacious tatami hall for the special conference or meeting room
The 1st floor for art gallery space

※We have a variety of rental items such as many tables, chairs, screen, display wood table, microphone, projector, gold folding screen and so on. The prices are different for each item. (high table for 1,650JPY, chair for 300JPY…etc)

②We give you the estimate including the room fee, the rental items fee, as well as any other cost expected, while we keep your pre-reservation for a certain period for you to consider the reservation.

③If you would like to make a reservation, please send us the web reservation form. *you can check the terms and conditions in the form.

④If the room charge exceeds 100,000 yen, a reservation deposit of 50% of the room charge is required.

⑤The payment is acceptable by cash, bank transfer or credit card payment on the site.
